About Karen & Amos

Amos is from Greenville, Virginia and graduated from Riverheads High School in 1999. He attended James Madison University and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Educational Media. He is employed by the Augusta County School District as a Systems Engineer. Amos's parents and sister live in the area.

Karen is orginally from Mountain View, California and graduated from Los Altos High School in 1999. She went to college at the University of Oregon. She spent time as the university chapter president of both the Collegiate Music Educator's National Conference and Mu Phi Epsilon before earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2003. After two years of graduate studies, Karen moved back to California and then eventually followed her parents and brother when they moved to Moneta, Virginia (Smith Mountain Lake). She is currently a manager at a bookstore in Staunton, Virginia.

Karen and Amos met during the Summer of 2006. After several months of dating and driving the 100 miles between Staunton and Moneta twice a week, they decided Karen should move up to Staunton. In September 2007, Amos proposed to Karen and they were married July 26, 2008!

Karen and Amos have a dog named Nippy that Amos got soon after graduating college. He is a mystery mix-breed but we're pretty sure he's part terrier. Their cat, Mr. Pickles, is a Bombay that Karen and her roomates rescued from a shelter back in Eugene, Oregon. Nippy and Picky have learned to love (*cough* tolerate *cough*) each other as well. In July, they adopted Sparkplug the kitten after finding him during the wedding rehearsal. In October, Sparky's brother Gigabit came to live with them after spending a few month at Karen's Aunt's animals shelter getting healthy.
